Aquarius and Pluto talking up a storm
I thought the ingress of Pluto in Capricorn into Aquarius (11/19/24) was gonna be something. And it was but I don’t think I really started to feel that much until Venus moved into Aquarius on 12/7/24. It was the first planet joining Pluto and thank goodness it was beauty and love herself to have the initial conversation. I cognitively knew that every planet that moved into Aquarius would meet with Pluto at the threshold to usher it in, but I didn’t know what that would feel like. Until I did. And Pluto is penetrating. He likes to bring light to the dark. He goes in and digs deep and unearths those shadows we all have. He does that personally in our natal chart and in our transits and progressed charts. And he does that in the collective, especially when he’s in the sign of Aquarius, which represents the collective/humanity/big groups/democracy/distribution of information.
On January 19th, the Sun entered Aquarius and just two days later on January 21st, the Aquarius Sun is conjunct with Pluto. Yesterday, the 20th was MLK Day. In the US, the third Monday in January, we observe Martin Luther King Junior’s birthday and this year it feel on the 20th, the same day as the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States.
And how did I feel on this day? TORN. SHATTERED. FRAGMENTED. As a nation, we honor a hero who fought for equality and truth and humanitarianism and - at the same time - we swear in a figure whose actions and spirit are diametrically opposed. IMHO, the Voldemort of humanity. And yes, I know I might be projecting much on to one figure, but he really does make it so easy.
So how can we hold the duality in our minds, hearts, and bodies? How can we hold these opposites and not buzz right out of ourselves and numb out, anger out, or fall into depression and hopelessness? I don’t know. I locked myself in my studio and worked on an astrology project.
We all have defense mechanisms. They range from Pathological and Immature to Neurotic and Mature. The majority of society operates using neurotic defense mechs (rationalization, isolation, etc) and mature defense mechanism such as sublimation and affiliation and suppression. My art session was a combination of isolation and sublimation. We all move our emotions and energy differently. Awareness is extremely important and the first step in our efforts to become more conscious.
